WOW!!!! I just blinked my eyes and our 2016-2017 school year is over. So many things to go back and reflect upon...I don't know where to begin!
Minute Meetings were a huge success! In fact, at the end of the year survey I conducted with the students, one of the comments made the most was how much they LOVED minute meetings! If you missed what that was about, check earlier posts.
Our Career Spotlight and Career Wall as another HUGE success!! The students loved hearing about the different career clusters and trying to figure out which cluster our spotlight career fit into.
Mindfulness was also another HUGE success not only for the students, but for our staff as well. Everyone was taught about the different parts of the brain (ask your child about the wise owl, security guard and memory stick) as well as how to practice being mindful. We did mindful moments almost every time we had class and, by the end of the year, kids loved doing them so much, they were asking to do them!
Our College and Career Awareness Week went off without a hitch! We focused on where the teachers went to college and how they decided upon their chosen career path.
Our fifth grade Wonder Novel unit was amazing! We focused a lot on developing empathy skills.
I know there is so much more that I need to reflect on so that, in planning for next year, we move forward with an even more well developed comprehensive school counseling program. That is why this post is called End of the Year Reflections...part one! Stay tuned for more reflections and some exciting news about where we are headed for next year!
